Beth Perera was born in Columbus, OH and attended Ohio State University. During her marriage to an Air Force pilot, she lived all over the country—California, New York, Texas, Louisiana, and Georgia. She has a BS degree in Computer Programming.
Beth has been in the work force since she was 16, and was looking forward to a programming career when her first daughter was born with a life-threatening heart condition and needed open-heart surgery at age 2 days. She got a quick education on cardiac care and hospital procedures and acquired an instant and deep respect for those who devote their lives to the medical profession. When her second daughter came along almost four years later, she wanted to be to remain a stay-at-home mother and began looking into home-based businesses. I started a direct sales business at age 31with a $100 product kit and prayed for the courage to stand up and talk in front of people.
She is still joyfully self-employed as an Executive Sales Director with The Pampered Chef. What started as a hobby has grown into an organization with over 200 consultants across several states with a combined annual sales volume of over $1.4 million. Beth discovered a talent for business and for working with people and has traveled extensively through the business to such places as France, Spain, Germany, Italy, Austria, and the Czech Republic.
Beth says she has lived all over and seen many places, but “I'm still happy to call middle Georgia my home.” She has lived in Houston County since the summer of 1996 and has witnessed the tremendous growth in the area.
Beth states, “My desire to run for a seat in the Georgia House is based on my love of family, my vision of excellence in education, and the opportunity to be among those who make a difference in the lives of middle Georgians. In particular, I want to be a part of the growing number of women in elected office. I feel women are sadly under represented in the current ranks of government officials. I want the voices of middle Georgians to be heard in Atlanta, and I very much look forward to meeting and talking with as many of my neighbors as possible across all seven counties of this District.’
Beth is mom to two teenaged daughters. The District: District 136 consists of all of Crawford County, plus portions of Houston, Bibb, Peach, Monroe, Upson, and Lamar. Towns included are Byron, Culloden, half of Centerville, the northeast section of Macon, half of Barnesville, Roberta, and Thomaston. |
