Lauren Benedict graduated from The Walter F. George School of Law in 1997, and in her practice as a founding partner of Boston Passante, LLP, she works only for the seriously ill and injured in the areas of workers’ compensation and Social Security disability law. Often, her clients are the working poor: manual laborers with long, steady work histories who find themselves dealing with catastrophic illness or injury. She cares deeply about her clients—that broad segment of the population with little education and no advocate to address their needs. An active and involved member of St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, Lauren was appointed Senior Warden of the Vestry in 2002, and following the departure of the priest, she became responsible for shepherding the parish through the search process to call a new rector and for ensuring smooth parish operations during the two-year transition. She continues her active involvement, having just co-chaired the parish’s Long-Range Planning Committee, helping to create long-range plans for the church’s future growth. Lauren is also a member of the Ecclesiastical Trial Court and the Board of Episcopal Charities Foundation for the Diocese of Atlanta. In recognition of her professional accomplishments and dedication to community service, Lauren was selected as a member of Leadership Macon’s 2005 Class, from which she recently graduated. For the past three years, Lauren has staffed the email desk of WGXA Fox 24’s weekly public information program “Let’s Talk Law.” From time to time, she also sits on the “Let’s Talk Law” panel as an expert on workers’ compensation and Social Security disability law. Lauren decided to run for House District 140 when she realized, following the last legislative session, how little was done to represent the working people of Middle Georgia. She believes passionately that she can make a difference and that she will be the kind of representative who will represent all the people—from the lowliest to the highest—that no one will be forgotten. She is the people’s candidate and is committed to serving with all the will and wisdom that are her gift, by nature and by training. |
