RuthE Levy has placed service to the community at the top of her list throughout her adult life. After completing twelve years of active duty in the United States Air Force, she returned home to her native California where she combined community service in a local senior citizens’ home with a new career in teaching. When her new husband was transferred to Georgia, she eagerly returned to this state, which had been tops on her list since being on active duty in Warner Robins from 1983-1985.

Since coming to Georgia in 1996, RuthE has worked as a teacher and director of education in both public and private schools in Cobb and Fulton counties. In addition, she developed a special curriculum for Sunday school tying community service activities to religious values. She won a national award for this curriculum in 1999, and she continues to teach her students about community service and social action.

Before coming onto active duty, RuthE worked as a bank auditor. Her Air Force career included auditing and money management as well as executive and command duties and protocol. RuthE was a commander in an aircraft maintenance squadron during the first Gulf War. RuthE has received numerous awards and recognition including six Outstanding Unit Awards, the Air Force Commendation Medal, and the Meritorious Service Medal.

RuthE has been involved in community organizations wherever she has lived. She has held leadership positions as President of Business and Professional Women of Goldsboro, NC; President of the Board of the Orange County Chamber Orchestra, CA; and Vice President of Religious Practices of her synagogue in Fullerton, CA.

RuthE has a varied educational background, with bachelor’s degrees in Family and Consumer Science and Accounting from California State Universities, a Master’s Degree in Aviation Management from Embry Riddle Aeronautical University, and a teaching credential from National University, San Diego.

RuthE is married to David Lombrozo. They share five children and three grandchildren.
